PeopleSoft Methodology

PeopleSoft

AMC has experience at a senior level in the typical steps of a PeopleSoft implementation:

  • Needs assessment
  • Impact analysis
  • Defining user requirements
  • Fit gap analysis
  • Vendor selection and contracting
  • Deliverable management
  • Design / Configuration
  • Testing
  • User Acceptance Testing
  • Implementation / Production Support
  • Training
  • Change Control
  • User Support
  • Software upgrades
  • Enhancements / Plugin’s / Interfaces

Needs assessment – provides a high level view of what an organization needs, and its relative priority.

Impact analysis – assesses the potential or likely impact on an organization of implementing the new system, in terms of benefits, costs and possible risks.

Defining user requirements – brings clarity to the organization’s intentions for the system, and so reduces risk of failure.

Vendor selection and contracting – is a formal process whereby vendors review requirements, demonstrate their offerings, submit proposals, and a vendor is contracted.

Deliverable management - is the process where deliverables are tracked, reviewed and signed off, to ensure that the quality of the deliverables is met.

User acceptance testing – is a formal procedure for testing a system to ensure that it meets the specified requirements.

Fit / Gap Analysis
A fit gap analysis is conducted to see how well the software/offering meets your requirements. It should provide you with a baseline estimate on how much the system is expected to cost

Design / Configuration
In design and configuration activities, design specifications are created and configuration values are entered into the system based on the user requirements

Testing
Testing insures the system works as expected.  There can be many types of testing, but the basic process includes: unit testing - tests if the system component works; module testing - tests to see if the system still works as data moves throughout the module; system testing, or End to End testing - tests to see if the system works as data is interfaced into the system, and data is processed and sent though all areas of the system.

Implementation / Production Support
Implementation and production support consists of switching over to the new system, and fixing any issues in production as they arise.

Training
Training helps new users understand how to operate the system and get the best out of it, reducing production support and the need for ongoing consultation services.

Change Control
Change control provides a controlled environment where changes to the system are reviewed, approved, and implemented in a controlled manner.

User Support
User support typically is conducted either face to face, through the web, or via the help desk.

Software Upgrades
Software upgrades provide you to the latest version of the software, and allow product support to continue.

Enhancements / Plugins / Interfaces
These are all tools that are added to enhance the use of the system.
