Dr. Apostolos Rantsios
Food Quality, Safety and Traceability; Strategic Planning
Dr Rantsios is a world leader in the field of food safety, with over 30 years scientific and management experience at the highest level. He is expert in all regulatory requirements at EU, codex alimentarius and ISO 22000 levels and in international SPSS agreements concerning food safety under WTO. He has a distinguished professional career in veterinary public health, NATO and the World Veterinary Association, of which he was President from 1995-1999. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, especially where regulatory drivers require sectoral or enterprise-wide change. He oversees a wide variety of food safety and control systems, aided where necessary by other expert consultants in meeting specialist needs which naturally emerge during the client engagement process. He became President of AVIS College in 2004; he is General Editor of the Advanced Food Safety Information System (AFSIS). Since 2005 he has been senior advisor to the London Food Portal. He is highly experienced working in EU accession and candidate countries and is a regular presenter and speaker at international conferences and workshops. He has over 100 publications.
