The Infomediary
“Infomediary” is a new word - a “neologism”. Not so long ago “computer” and “internet” were new words. Now they are so familiar we cannot remember well a time without them.
“Infomediary” combines “information” with “intermediary”.
Working for you
An infomediary works for you, to further your interest. Tell the infomediary
what you need to know, and why. And the infomediary will help you get the result.
You may have used a search engine to look for something and come back with hundreds
of thousands of "hits"; you may even have learned advanced search and reduced
your list to a few hundred items. But how do you know what you have stumbled
on is what you need - or can be trusted.
The infomediary works in three stages to:
- identify, find and make available to you the information you need.
- check that you have received and understood what you wanted.
- see, to the extent possible, that your interests were served.
If you are wondering whether or not you need an infomediary, try this simple checklist:
Checklist
Could you find your way to and around the information you wanted?
Is it reliable?
Have you understood it?
Did it get the job done?
If you answer "no" or “unsure” to any question, AMC may be able to help you.
Guide Principles
As an infomediary organization, AMC believes in four guide principles to
the effective management of information on your behalf:
Access
Reliability
Understanding
Application
Consultation
As Mick Jagger so famously reminds us - you may sometimes get what you
want - but is it what we need? To know what you need, you should try working
with us. Try a consultation.
